Now that we have finally reached the last quarter of 2014, it’s a great time to look at where you are with the goals you set for the year. I have to tell you, in my work as a coach over the last 20 years, I have found that it is the last quarter where many of my clients are frustrated. Why? Because sometimes the journey toward reaching your desired destination is not exactly what you thought it would be. I know for years I was challenged to make my goals, my desires real in my life. I remember it like it was yesterday, September 19, 1993 was the day that I made the shift. See for so long I wanted to truly hold the space for women to become all they dream of but because I couldn’t see how any one would listen to me or how anyone would take me seriously, I lived inside my life of mediocrity. I lived my safe life of going to my 9 to 5 while doing my dream on the side in the evenings and on the weekend and quite honestly never fully stepping into my purpose. Oh I could give you all kinds of reasons, excuses and stories as to why I could not get my dream off of the ground. And it was that day in 1993 that I got sick and tired of playing small to my greatness. I got sick and tired of allowing my limited thinking to keep me from all that was possible and I made a shift that fundamentally changed my life. What was it? I pressed pause on my negative chatter and pressed play on my powerful self-talk. See to start to even move toward my desires, I had to stop listening to my limiting beliefs and start listening more to my gifts, my greatness and get in alignment with my goals. Today I am here to call you out to the same. To tell you that it’s time to stop playing small, it’s time to stop hiding from your goals and dreams. It’s time for you to Get In The Game!
See it’s easy to sit on the sideline and develop plays, to dream about what you want, or strategize about it. Getting in the game to make it happen is altogether different. I have to tell you that if you want to achieve your goals it starts with knowing where you stand toward making it happen. For me, it started with me moving from just being interested in my goals to moving to be committed to them. See if you are interested, you will only do what’s convenient. If you are interested, excuses will come and you;ll come up with all kinds of stories as to why you can’t make your dreams happen. You’ll say things like “I don’t have the money”, “my relationship is stopping me”, “I need to lose weight first” or “I need to go back to school first.” You will find all kinds of reasons why you cannot set your wheels in motion to make it happen. However if you are committed, you will do ALL that it takes to make it happen. You will let go of your story, your excuses, your beliefs, your habits and anything that will stop you from becoming all you desire. Instead you will commit to becoming the person you need to become to make your dreams happen. Now if you are saying Nicole I am committed to my goals, my desires, my dreams, then here are four steps that can help you get in the game and set your wheels in motion toward your goals;
1. Stop Waiting for Things To Be Perfect! So many of us spend time waiting for the time to be just right to start to work toward our goals. Here’s a secret for you – There will never be a perfect time to work toward your goals. The timing is yours to choose so how about you choose NOW and let this last quarter of 2014 be the time you begin to take action toward your goal and stop allowing them to not be realized in your life! To do this you will need to…..
2. Let Go Of Your Limits! If you have let your goals slide, it’s usually because you have sat in disappointment, shame or you’ve been listening to that negative chatter in your head that keeps you from what’s possible. So today I want to challenge you to stop throwing yourself a pity party, dust yourself off and really look at what is causing you to stay stuck. Is it doubt? Fear? What is it? Whatever it is, you must identify it and decide to switch from it, to make a new choice of what WILL direct you. And have to tell you that, that will take you moving from that limiting belief to instead…..
3. Stand in Your Complete Power. You have to know that your goals, that rumble in your belly is speaking to you from your genius, your gift. That thing you are meant to do or be. That rumble in your belly comes from a voice inside of you reminding you that you have the right to live your dreams. So let today be the day that you commit to no longer hiding your greatness, to be unapologetic about all the things that make you exactly who you are! To do that I want to give you an assignment – make a list of all the great things about you! All the things you are good at, your genius, your gift. I want you to take this list and I want you to read it out loud 3 times a day. I want you to read it looking at yourself in the morning in the mirror before you start to get dressed, at lunch while you are at work (even if it is in a bathroom stall on a break), and then the third time, I want you to read it out loud to yourself in the evening while you are getting ready for bed. Do this until who you ARE begins to really seep into your soul! It’s time to be reminded of the gifts in YOU. See that gift inside of you doesn’t change with the economy! It doesn’t change because a relationship is not going right. It doesn’t change because of any negative words people may say to you or about you. Your gift is unbreakable and unshakable and it time you commit to standing in it day in and day out. It’s time for you to own your truth, your greatness, your dream and stand in your complete power!
4. Take Baby Steps. I don’t want you to think you can make it ALL happen overnight. That is impossible! Often times we bite off more than we can chew. So start with first writing out what you want. So many people keep their goals in their head and never write them down. This can easily cause you to be overwhelmed. Then after you fully write it all out, you can begin by taking it one step at a time. Just commit to taking at least one step each day toward making it happen. Progress happens in small steps that come together over time. Say for example, that you want to make an additional $40,000 a year in your new business. Don’t start out looking at the whole year, plan out what you can do today to work toward that goal month by month. Maybe that would look like making $3,500 a month. That amount may seem more attainable than looking at the $40,000 goal. The point I am trying to make is that you must define for yourself what you CAN do, to take baby steps toward your goal. Don’t overwhelm yourself by looking at the whole pie; take one slice at a time. Every small move toward a larger goal is working you toward making it happen.
These four steps are what it takes to be committed to your goals. Putting these four steps into practice will begin to build your momentum and as you make progress day after day to make your desires real in your life. If you feel like you need more help with this, what I have shared is part of a larger program I have called Find Your Fierce Life, you can learn more about it by clicking here. It’s time to renew your focus, replenish your vision, restore your desire and get in the game to bring your goals to fruition! It’s time to stop thinking about, contemplating, wishing and hoping. It’s time to stand in the fabulosity of who you are, which means no one gets to define you other than you. That you allow yourself to evolve into all that you were created to be as you make your dreams real in your life!
